18' skiff

18' skiffs are the ultimate three handed sailing craft whose exciting displays have been well loved by spectators and the media since the late 1800's, begining in Sydney, Australia.

Given a decent breeze an 18 is likely to beat all monohulls of up to about 100 feet in length around a windward-leeward course.

Class rules vary between clubs and countries who attempt to strike a balance between their own interests and unlimited class development. Various organisations lay claim to being the true leader.

Ultimately the sailors know that the real spirit of the class boils down to two simple rules:

  • 18 feet long overall
  • a 2:30 start

12' skiff

12' skiffs are one of the most radical and exciting classes to sail in, and are double-handed, double trapeze. Sails show individual emblems instead of a class logo. Rigs are unrestricted so that crews have multiple masts with sails and bowsprits in various combinations.

The 12ft skiff is a development class that is sailed in NSW, QLD and New Zealand.
